Is it possible for a qualification to be accredited by Ofqual, but then rejected for funding by JACQA?

A. Yes; accreditation and Section 96 approval are separate processes. A qualification could be accredited and then privately funded However, we would expect there to be a close correlation between the two processes. Awarding Bodies will need to enter into early dialogue with JACQA when they propose to develop a new qualification, to ensure that their plans are consistent with the policy context of the 14-19 Qualifications Strategy, and that their proposal would be likely to be approved under the Section 96 criteria. Any advice from JACQA that a qualification was unlikely to satisfy the funding criteria would not prevent an Awarding Body from proceeding with the development of a qualification; but it would do so on the understanding that public funding would be unlikely.
