Is it possible for a baby hamster to survive even though their mother is dead?
Five days old? You might be able to but keep in mind this isn’t going to be easy if you have a job or go to school. They eat every few hours. Remove the babies to ANOTHER clean cage or glass aquarium. Find another mother nursing hamster with babies the same age. Contact your pet shop and local serpentarium or hopefully you will have one around or a friend will. Slowly add shavings from her cage to the new clean cage. Get her smell on the baby hamsters by scooping the babies in soft bedding that was near her babies. Don’t do this backwards from the others to hers! Put a little of her dirty sawdust in the new cage away from the babies of course. Hold the mother and get her scent on your hands and then hold the motherless babies. You want to make the babies smell like hers and her babies you want the cage to smell a little like hers. It must not smell like the dead mother at all. This might not work so have some gloves handy to remove the mother. She could even kill one baby before you ge
