Is it okay to wear a hat, toque or hijab under a hockey or ski helmet?
Usually, as long as it does not interfere with the fit of the helmet. I brought a concussion management program to the high school I teach at. It uses a baseline test. The company we use to measure and manage the baseline test is called Impact. Can you recommend any others? There are others but I am not sure of their names. These tests can never substitute for good post-concussion management. Even if a player returns to baseline scores, but still has symptoms on exertion, he/she is not fully recovered and cannot go back to competition or training. Would a CAT Scan by a family doctor reveal that the brain has had sufficient rest? Absolutely not! CT scans do not reveal anything about concussion. Concerns for a concussion has been widely reported particularly for hockey and I suspect coaches are better aware of concussions within this sport.
