Is it okay to use regular jello when a cake recipe calls for instant jello?

The recipe probably calls for Instant Jello Pudding mix — not jello.

I am assuming you mean Jello Pudding ….. Jello is already “instant”. Most recipes refer to instant pudding. Some, annoyingly don’t. Instant pudding thickens from the liquid added. Regular pudding has to be cooked in order to thicken properly. From my experience, most baked recipes require instant pudding and specify some sort of measured liquid that is part of the recipe and not the regular “recipe” on the pudding box.

No it because regular jello takes longer to “set” in the cake i geuss you could say i mean it wont be the same if you used instant it might have a weird texture.
