Is it okay to use frozen meat that has expired?

0

I frequently buy meat that is on sale a day or two before the expiration date. I take it home, unwrap it, wash it off under running water, rewrap it in fresh wrapping and freeze it right away. When I need it, I thaw it out and use it immediately. I’ve never had a problem when doing this. But, I once bought two chickens on sale the day before they expired. When I got home, there was a minor family emergency to attend to and I totally forgot to prepare the chicken. A few days later I found it in the fridge and it had already gone bad, so I tossed it. If it don’t smell right – get rid of it.
