Is it okay to use a store bought, steam carpet steamer to clean a frieze carpet?
Answer Dear Jamee, Thank you for your question. Since I don’t know what type of store bought cleaner you purchased, I will answer you question generically. First, frieze carpet is no different than any other nylon carpet. It is a style type rather than a different form of fiber. All of normal conditions and cleaning methods you would use on other nylon carpets can be used with your frieze carpet. Second, there are three essential regarding steam cleaner (actually it is hot water cleaning). They are clean water rinse; extraction power and water residue. Some store bought cleaners use the same water to wash the carpet and rinse the carpet. You can guess what would happen if you used the same water to wash and rinse your clothes. The steam system to be effective should use clean water for the rinsing process. Without a clean water rinse, you leave a soap film on the fibers.
