Is it okay to rename a 10mth old dog?
It will take time and you have to commit. Our last dog the breeder had given her the nickname Princess and she responded to it. We gave her the formal name Princess Leia (as in star wars) and tried to call her Leia. She never responded to it and only responded to princess. I think if we had tried really hard we could have gotten her to recognize Leia but we just sort of gave up. They are both two syllable words, but I think she could tell the difference. Our dog before though we probably could have called him anything, anytime because he didn’t seem to know his name. So i guess it really depends on the dog.
