Is it okay to have a wiccan handfasting if the guy is married to another woman?
– If he was already married, then whatever ceremony he did with the other girl, whether official or unofficial, is null and void in US and in most countries as well (except in a few, mostly Islamic, countries that accept polygamy). – And even if he weren’t already married, if whatever ceremony they did was without a registered official who is licensed to perform marriages, it doesn’t count. – There is a very limited set of situations where the second relationship is “official” before the first is dissolved, and I really only know about it in Canadian law, I don’t know about US law. The situation is if someone wants to marry a foreign citizen (so that then that foreign citizen could immigrate and they could live together) but that foreign citizen is already legally married (but separated, and lives as if divorced) but lives in a country where by law divorces are not possible, so he or she could not obtain a legal divorce no matter how much he/she tries, then the relationship is accepted
