Is it okay to dye a wig made of synthetic fibers?
Synthetic hair in wigs is not porus but a solid strand like fishing line. Old fashioned Rit Dye (grocery store) can dye nylon to a certain extent, so you may have some luck if you want it darker. Most fabric dyes that are good will not dye wig hair, they are fiber reactive dye that do a chemical reaction with natural based fibers like cotton, silk, wool. My guess is that commercial hair dye is similar and requires a protein based fiber to react.
