Is it okay to dress in drag on my first day at a new job?

Depending on the job, you must dress accordingly. You were hired by an ‘at-will’ employer most likely (no contracts to sign guaranteeing you XX number of months / years of employment) which means they can fire you at any time they want, for any reason they want. Often, places of this nature have a dress code that is expected, whether it is a uniform, or specific business casual / casual / business clothing. If the dress is casual, I would be open about who you are, and dress however you see fit. If the attire is business casual, I would wear the clothing for the gender you wish to portray, but be open and honest about who you are, and why you dress as such (and should have done so during the interview.) If it is standard business attire, I would not stray from your gender’s typical clothing, as such jobs often require a cookie-cutter stereotype I am sure you don’t fall into.
