Is it okay to add foam insulation before residing?

0

Ron writes from Sauk Rapids, Minnesota: “Is it okay to use 3/4 inch Foamular 250 to add extra insulation to my home exterior prior to a reside job? If so, should foam seams be taped or left untaped so a bit more moisture can escape (I’d use tongue & groove foam sheathing. Exterior sheathing is fiberboard. Interior walls have plastic vapor barrier inside drywall. Cold climate. Condensation/mold shouldn’t be an issue?” Answer: Applying FOAMULARĀ® insulation prior to installing your exterior finish is a wonderful use for the product. The seams can be taped to provide an air infiltration barrier but taping is not required.
