Is it OK to use WebMail and another email program at the same time?
• That depends on what you mean by the same time. • If you mean, Can I have WebMail and Eudora open at the same time? Then no, please don’t. It will cause various problems, the most common of which is that your mailboxes will be read-only in one or the other programs. On a related note, please be sure to log out of your account when you are done using WebMail. (There is a Sign Out link in the upper right corner of the screen.) • If you mean, Can I use WebMail to read my email when I’m at home and, say, Eudora when I’m on campus? Then yes, you can. • Since WebMail uses IMAP, if you’re going to use Eudora (or Netscape or Outlook) with WebMail, you should have Eudora (or Netscape or Outlook) set up to use IMAP rather than POP. This used to be a major problem, but it isn’t as much of a problem as it used to be, because the ACCC has upgraded its POP servers.
