It’s probably fine. Be sure you are in a well-ventilated area, don’t bring your baby with you, and go to a reputable, professional stylist. The well-ventilated area is important for obvious reasons as is not bringing the baby with you. The reputable stylist is because a stylist should be avoiding getting the chemicals on your skin/scalp as much as possible. Chemicals on your skin can be absorbed into your body (just like a birth control or nicotine patch does). Theoretically, the chemicals that come in contact with your skin/scalp can be absorbed by your body and then be present in your breastmilk. However, the amount of any potentially harmful chemical that would get on your skin (if you use a knowledgeable stylist) would be very low, meaning even less would be absorbed, and then even less would actually make its way to your milk, if any. So it’s fine as long as you are taking the above precautions.
