Is it OK to use a heating pad during pregnancy?

Yes it is fine. When I was in the hospital on complete bed rest for a week with my first child I used a heating pad. The nurses gave it to me for my back pain (I was on a labor and delivery bed and those aren’t comfortable!) and they allowed me to used it 24/7. Heating pads are fine when used on the back during pregnancy. And you can use them as much as you want. Your baby is very protected from the heating pad because of your back muscles, and internal organs. Although you might want to keep them on low just to be extra cautious. And and you can also you use them on other parts of the body while pregnant. However if you use them on the stomach and the thigh then limit it to 15 minute sessions.
