Is it OK to supercharge a 2005 Ford Mustang GT WITHOUT an intercooler?
I am considering buying a used 2005 Ford Mustang stock GT and supercharging it. The best supercharger for the Mustang GT appears to be a Whipple twin Screw type that produces about 6 psi of boost, and as a result improves HP at the rear wheels to about 405, which is is pretty dramatic. However, this Whipple setup does NOT come with an intercooler. My question is, is it “safe” to bolt on this much power without an intercooler??? Thanks for your answers. A: yes it is safe to do so, but i would not recommend that. i would rather pay a little more for a kit with an intercooler. always keep in mind that increased temps under the hood can kill your engine and rob some horses. i had a procharger with an UPGRADED intercooler and it was keeping temps under the stock conditions and making 530 horses on the tires. there are also intercooled Whipple setups on the market, but the price for those would be a little higher than non intercooled. but it’s worth of paying for an intercooled kit. however,
