Is it ok to start pumping now?
No do not pump now because you are only producing colostrum not milk. Also….with pumping or nipple stimulation you can induce contractions and this is the last thing you should want at only 30 weeks. If your intent is to breast feed your baby, the colostrum will still be present after the baby is born and that will be sufficient for the babies need in the first couple days of life. Then your milk will come in about 3 to 4 days and you will be breast feeding your baby and bonding before you know it. Good luck to you!
Absolutely not. You already said in your question that nipple stimulation can trigger contractions and you absolutely don’t want to go into labor this early in your pregnancy. Your milk doesn’t come in until a few days AFTER you give birth so you wouldn’t be pumping any breast milk to store up on anyways.
