Is it ok to shoot a pellet gun up in the mountains away from any trails?
The same city ordinance that prohibits discharge of a firearm applies to pellet guns as well. When you get out of city limits, state law applies and a pellet gun does not fall under the definition of a firearm in state law. The city limits generally end at the Firebreak Road with the exception of the area around Ricks Creek up to the Haddad residence and the mountain face south of Centerville Canyon (where the V on the mountain is).
