Is it ok to put %10 diesel and %90 gas in my gas engine tank?

There was an article in an Aviation Magzine of an error in refueling the commander’s bomber in the Pacific with diesel. The error was discovered and the tanks were drained and refueled with avgas. After takeoff, the commander’s plane flew faster than it usually did in the past. The only explanation was the very small residual diesel left in the system. The author said he always adds a little diesel to his gas. I’ve tried some. You can only put in small amounts, like up to three percent at most. Larger amounts end up in your crankcase oil, noticably raising your oil level. But it’s a great lubricant. I’ve never seen a wear ring on the top of two cycle engines because the top of the cylinder is lubricated.
