Is it OK to prompt the child and ask a child to reread with better expression?
When the student is oral reading, the information gained is intended to be a snap shot of the students’ skills at that point in time and is really not an instructional moment. That would be some of the information the teacher would glean from the assessment that should be used to guide instruction in the weeks to come.
