Is it ok to give my ferrets a buzz haircut during the hot summer months?
Another way to keep ferrets cool is to fill water bottles most of the way with water, put them in the freezer, wrap an old towel or old t-shirt around it, and put it in their room. If they get hot, they can snuggle next to the bottle to get cool. Keep their cage out of the sunshine. Make sure they have some type of fan or a/c in the room and house. Keep their water bottles filled with water at all times. Don’t give ferrets a buzz unless they need it (basically, for surgery). Their fur protects their skin from getting scratched and burned. While it sounds good it is not the best thing for them. Another thing is to get a big bowl (which they can’t tip over), put a towel underneath it, and put some water in it for them to play in.
