Why do you cover your ps3 with a towel? It’s not good. Some heat still dissipates through the case plastic, not just the vents. I can’t think of any good reason to put a towel on a ps3. Most ps2’s do get to level 2. I always though the fan had more than 3 speeds. But ps3’s will hit the second-quietest level if they’re in room temperature to slightly over, a few minutes after the ps3 is turned on, and usually will cycle between the two lowest fan speeds. If you wanna be real nice to your ps3, cool the temperature to 65 F and give it plenty of space around it, then the fan may stay on level 1 all the time.
