Is it ok for 2 yellow bellied slider turtles to live together?
Dear Pink Lady, They should be fine. (Especially since there are only two of them.) The only time I would be concerned about housing multiple turtles together is during mating season when males can get aggressive towards one another. Turtles are actually pretty social animals and most turtles get along well with other turtles regardless of their breed. I have a cooter, a box and a gopher turtle, all sharing the same enclosure. They were all adults when they were introduced to each other and all of them get along quite well. I love to see them “stack” themselves on the log in their pond! I would put them together for the first time when you can be around to observe their behavior and intervene if there is a problem. Make sure they have plenty of food and space and they should be friends in no time! Good luck! ETA: Sliders in the wild live in groups. You can observe large numbers of them stacking on top of each other during basking times and morning feeding times. (Head to a river around
