Is it O.K for a 1 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi to weigh 21 pounds?
Once a PWC has reached one year of age, the Corgi has pretty much grown to its full size and body weight, so it would be classified as an adolescent. Although determining the right weight of the Corgi has a lot to do with gender. According to the AKC, a bitch should weigh approximately 25 pounds and a male should weigh approximately 27 pounds. More or less a 21 pound Corgi would be slightly underweight in either gender, depending on his/her size. Though since it is only one year old, the Corgi might still gain a few more pounds. (Note: A slightly underweight Corgi is always better than a slightly overweight Corgi.) So, with the information given, I would conclude that it is safe for a one year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi to weigh 21 pounds. But should the Corgi remain that weight by two years of age, it would be best to feed the Corgi a little more food (one meal a day).
