First of all, I’m puzzled that you were on birth control so soon after delivery. In my day (which WAS a long time ago, so things may well have changed) you didn’t go see the doctor until six weeks post delivery, unless, of course, there was a problem. Therefore, you weren’t given prescribed birth control until then. Generally speaking, you were not supposed to be having sexual intercourse until after your six week follow-up visit with your OB/GYN. I also think that bleeding for a month or more is normal after delivery – it gets less in volume, but there is a lot going on with your body cleansing the uterus. You don’t say whether it was heavy flow for that month so I can’t really say (plus I’m not a doctor), but if the flow was heavy at first and was slowing down over time, I believe that is very typical.
