Is it normal for a baby to get a rash when teething?
A teething rash can show up on the jaw area, around the chin, mouth and even down to the child’s neck. It is usually combined with excessive drooling and maybe even a slight fever. If you child comes up in a teething rash there are many creams available from your local pharmacy that can help to clear the rash up. A barrier cream or Vaseline around the mouth can be used to protect the skin to prevent any further spread or damage caused by the rash. Most creams require you to clear and clean the effected area with a damp cloth before applying the creams. A rash appears on the cheeks for the simple reason that they are sore and dry and usually appears as the tooth or teeth are actually cutting through. Also take into account the time of year, if it is cold outside and the wind is blowing strong, this can effect the chapping of the skin, this is a good time to use Vaseline.
