Is it necessary to obtain approval to use the Swiss cross or a made in Switzerland designation?
No. The law does not contain provisions for obtaining approval. The principle is free use of the Swiss cross, on the condition that this use conforms to the Swiss law (see following questions). This is why neither the Federal Institute of Intellectual Property, nor any other federal agency or office have the competence to approve usage of the Swiss cross (or other claim of origin).
