Is it necessary to make reservations at the Fuji-san mountain huts?

Although not required, they’re appreciated & would definitely be a good idea because the huts are quite packed during climbing season. The base weekday rate is 5000 yen per night, plus an optional 1000 yen for dinner, 1000 yen for breakfast, and an extra 1500 yen for weekend nights. So staying on a Fri. or Sat. night with dinner & breakfast will run at least 8500 yen. Some staff speak English.
