Is it necessary that I use Zymox medicated shampoo before applying the Zymox medicated rinse, or can I use the shampoo that I already have?
Zymox rinse is effective because of its live enzyme activity which provides a protective antibacterial coating on the fur and skin. Zymox medicated shampoo is necessary in treatment with the rinse because it contains no harsh detergents, pesticides, colorings or residual petroleum products. These and other harsh surfactants could do harm to the live enzymes that are already at work. The Zymox shampoo also contains Lactoperoxidise, Lactoferrin, and Lysozyme which kill off bacteria during the cleansing process. The Zymox rinse has also a residual effect to continue enzyme activity after application.
