Is it morally wrong to fine Lorry Drivers (Haulage Cos) £1000?
In a way I can understand what it’s about, years ago some HGV vehicle owners were trying to get away with running on red diesel as it is very cheap, they even had a dye that would change the colour but it still gave out smoke fumes. The M.O.T test is strict on HGVs but even so some were still trying to get away so the ministry were doing spot checks on vehicles and if there was found to be a fault with the vehicle they were issued with a GV9 which meant that vehicle was took off the road there and then, I believe this still happens. If there are other things wrong with a vehicle that can cause excessive fumes then rightly so the owner should be fined. If a vehicle is kept in good condition, a job which is up to the transport manager, then there should be low emission and the vehicle should be fine to go on the M11 if not then yes fine them, have you ever stood behind a HGV when it is pulling away the fumes it is awful so can you imagine what it would be like with the amount of HGVs on
