Is it mal-appropriate for Australia to forbid teaching of creation or intelligent design in private schools?
Private schools have their own standards and are not bound by state mandates…at least in the United States. If the school decides to forbid the teaching of creationism or intelligent design it is within their purview to do so. In my opinion parents need to be involved in their child’s education and not abandon their children to the whimsies of the educational system. If a parent disapproves of an omission in their child’s education, they themselves should teach what they wish their child to know. It’s a fine line to walk, between teaching Creationism, Intelligent Design, and Evolution. Religion cannot be destroyed. It is not something held in a building or in an icon. It is held within the hearts of the people who believe. The government can outlaw the teaching of religious principles in public and private schools, but they cannot police individuals in their homes. If parents wish to raise their child with a religious mind, that is there obligation. Expect no help from the government
