Is it legal to place flyers in people mailboxes in australia?

No it is perfectly legal but occasionally the occupant may display a sign on their mailbox that specifically states they do not want unsolicited mail. Such signs usually read “No Junk Mail”. Currently there is no specific legislative basis that prosecutes companies that ignore “no junk mail” signs however the Distribution Standards Board has a “Distribution Industries Code of Practice” that recommends that advertising/distribution companies do not place advertising material in mailboxes marked with appropriate signage. Unfortunately it is unclear what penalties may be faced by advertising companies that do not adhere to the Code. You can be sure though that you ignore the signs you may get a call from an angry resident or local council worker.

What is your question?

*Sadly, we had to bring back ads too. Hopefully more targeted.
