Is it legal to download movies, music, and other copyrighted material?
If you are downloading material (off a website, from a friend, etc) that you have not purchased or have not copyrighted, you are in violation of the Digital Media and Copyright Act and the University of Arkansas Code of Computing Practices. This may result in your account being deactivated and you are subject to judicial action. If you do not own the rights to the media, you may not legally distribute it. There are other legal alternatives to obtaining media. You may consider using the iTunes Music Store, Napster, or Amazon Music Store to obtain your movies, music or other media.
