Technological measures, such as copy protection, are now protected in accord with international standards. Whoever circumvents them or helps circumvent, for example by constructing, providing or selling an appropriate device, is criminally liable. Circumventing copy protection, however, is only punished if it is for the purpose of using a copyright protected work or performance in an unlawful way.
