Is it legal for SeaMobile to switch, route and bill the calls and SMS?
Yes. SeaMobile uses its relationship with Manx for roaming agreements pursuant to and in conjunction with the GSMA. Switch routing, billing, clearing, fraud notification – in short all of the aspects of making and terminating a mobile phone call – are all done in compliance with recognized GSM standards. Further, the GSMA has created compliance guidelines specifically related to maritime mobile phone traffic under the ruling of BA46. SeaMobile has endeavored to and will continue to work within those guidelines.
