Is it just me, or is there some sort of conflict between the Shias and Sunnis in Ramadan?

As far as I know it’s based on a disagreement over who should control Islam after Mohammed’s death, whether his family or his companions, and it has been the major division of Islam ever since. I know quite a few Sunnis don’t even regard Shia as Muslims, and there have been major wars in history over it all. In modern terms it’s just another cause of sectarianism in places like Pakistan and Afghanistan, and extremists shoot and bomb the ‘other side’. There’s an epic story about when the Taliban (Sunni) captured Mazar-e-Sharif, they rounded up the Iranian diplomats (all Shia) in their consulate and shot them (as well as thousands of others). One guy survived it, crawling out from the pile of bodies when the coast was clear, and trekked overland for hundreds of miles to get to safety, hiding by day and travelling by night. Even the Taliban destroying the giant Buddhas of Bamiyan was far more aimed at annoying the local Hazara population (Shia) who regarded them as part of their heritage,
