Is it inappropriate to invite an Italian man over for dinner with my family?
When you are dating an Italian man, and ask him to come over for dinner with your family, he will very likely think that you want to move the quality of your relationship up a notch or two. This is because any Italian girl or boy who has been going out with someone a few times and seriously thinks that he/she would like to turn her dating interest to a more “official” kind of relationship, if not a fully-fledged engagement, would first invite him/her over for dinner at his/her parents’ place, as a way of introduce her/his dating friend to them and see their opinion (and eventual approval).
