Is it illegal to write viruses and are there good virus writers?
When you “surf” in internet you probably see many articles about virus writing and especially about virus writers.In most of them they are called “industrial terrorists”,”cyber criminals” and they’re even compared to murderers.I also read somewhere that antivirus companies never hire people who have written viruses,which is not true.If you’ve ever browsed databases containing information about viruses you’ve probably seen such that are classified as “in the zoo” and “not destructive”.Do you know what this means?These viruses exist only in the research labs and probably in the collections of their creators.They have never been spread and they don’t contain destructive payloads. Do you think their creators could make them destructive and spread them?Yes,they could,but they haven’t done it because they’re not the “cyber criminals” everyone talks about. Unfortunately,the number of the good virus writers is very low.Let’s talk about malicious virus writers because their number is very high.
