Is it illegal to create fake Facebook profiles of famous people?
Technically it’s illegal to impersonate someone else, and creating a Facebook account that pretends to belong to someone else is doing that. If they wanted to they could sue you. Generally the worst that will happen is Facebook will close the account, as it is against their TOS. Though, they won’t usually do that unless someone reports the account. But you never know if the person you’re impersonating will want to make sure the stuff you posted isn’t tied to their name, and sue you for it. It’s also far more likely you’ll get caught if the person already has a real Facebook account, which a lot of celebrities do.
