is it illegal to catch fish by using fish traps in lakes in california?
The rules specifically say that the fish must be taken by angling, and the fish have to have voluntarily take the bait or lure. See the excerpts from the 2007 regulations: 2.00. (a) All fish may be taken only by angling with one closely attended rod and line or one hand line with not more than three hooks nor more than three artificial lures (each lure may have three hooks attached) attached thereto.
