Answer to your question is YES…. it is illegal. Moreover – it is illegal to work in the UAE under Visit Visa. It is illegal to work in the UAE other than the company who provided you with the employment visa. It is illegal by law to be employed and work somewhere else. By law – you dont have to pay the other employer if you want to change job. However, he has the right to get his expenses from you if you decided to resign or discontinue your present contract pending completion. The employer can chaarge you as well all the expenses and tickets and other investment incurred in bringing you to the UAE if you decided to resign during the duration of your contract. This is the employer’s right. Other right of the employer is to put a working ban on you for a year maximum of two years to ensure that you are not going to join a rival entity.
