Is it hard to write a rap song without mentioning drugs or alcohol – or bad behavior in general?
G: So many people rap about sex, drugs and alcohol – this makes it easier for us to come out and be different. We bring a positive message to the table. Does anyone make fun of your for it? D: No one. They think it’s cool that we wrote that song ourselves and won. Why don’t you two use drugs? G: We’re drug-free because we think it’s wrong. I see what it does to people – we learned how it destroys the body. We don’t want to do that to ourselves. We like to set an example for the younger kids. D: People are going to do right, and people are going to do wrong, you just need to know which side you’re going to take. I’ve learned to surround myself with people who are positive, and that way I’ll stay positive. Will we see you next year at the New Jersey Concert? G and D: Definitely!
