So I just got accepted to UT as a Transfer (History Major), so I’m very familiar with the transferring process to UT. A. GPA is by far the most important thing. Average accepted transfer GPA for the school is ~3.6. McCombs School of Business average transfer GPA is ~3.8. Architechture and Cockrell School of Engineering is ~3.7. I’m pretty sure Advertising is in the 3.6-3.7 range. To get into the College of Liberal Arts, usually a 3.5 will be sufficient. B. The school you come from means nothing to UT. A 3.5 from Rice is equal to a 3.5 from Austin Community College. Is this fair? No. In UT’s mind, a GPA is a GPA. C. Your essays aren’t that important if you have above a 3.8, and are usually only used in deciding between two qualified candidates. If you have like a 3.3 or 3.4, you should try as hard as possible to write good essay(s). D. You have to complete 60 hours of credit at UT, 36 of which must be Upper Division courses. 24 of the last 30 credits you earn must be from UT. For some m
