Just about everything Gary C said is true except for: “Customs (sic) often likes to see 6 or more months validity to let you in the country.” There is no such regulation saying that the visa should be valid for 6 or more months. The passport must be valid for six months beyond your authorized stay, but not the visa. The period of validity of a nonimmigrant visa is the period during which the alien may use it in making application for admission. The period of visa validity has no relation to the period of time the immigration authorities at a port of entry may authorize the alien to stay in the United States. EDIT: You do not have to declare amounts of less that $10,000.
