It depends what department you want to work in, how much experience you have, and when you are available. But I’ve been employed by two cruise lines within a month of my interview, so it wasn’t too hard! Being American does not exclude you from getting a job – many of the crew are foreigners because they are willing to work for less money. NCL America does hire mostly Americans, but NCL international hires anyone. If you’re serious about giving it a go, here’s some advice: Don’t bother with agencies, or anybody asking for money, just go directly to the cruise line’s website. You will find jobs, employment, careers, or something like that (usually at the bottom of the home page) where you can get an email address to send your resume to. (However, Royal Caribbean does use an agency, Cast-A-Way, and it is legitimate – they won’t ask you for money!) The larger companies are: Royal Caribbean – royalcaribbean.com Princess – princess.com P & O UK – pocruises.com Carnival – carnival.com Norweg
