Is it good/bad to put Pothos plant in aquarium?
I’ve grown them the way you do, with stems (which soon grew roots) in water and the rest of the plant in the air. They grew very well that way, getting all the water and nutrients (such as nitrate and phosphate) they needed from the water and at the same time getting lots of air and light from having their tops above the tank (water is much less transparent than air, so plants in water almost always get less light than plants in air). They also kept nutrient levels (again, nitrate, etc.) low in the tank. Various know-it alls told me half-baked things such as that the plants would poison the fish, or would rot in water, but none of that happened. Unfortunately, the experiment ended after about two years when one of my supervisors (the tank was at my office) decided she didn’t like the look, and threw all the plants away while I was out. I don’t work there anymore, thank God.
