Is it essential to use photographic paper to print pictures?
What happens is that you can use up a normal paper, but the print quality is not the same, mainly because the normal paper has a very large porosity and so the picture gets blurry. The photographic paper, besides it is thicker, has a surface layer that seals and prevents the paper to be wet. To sum up, you can use any paper to print any picture but the quality will be much worse.
