Is it environmently friendly to have electrical products switched on all day long acroos the whole country ?

As for leaving electrical goods on all day, it depends on where the power comes from, if the power comes from fossil fuels then it is going to release quite a bit of CO2 while if it is a mixture of nuclear and hydro then it is all completely harmless, if you want to make a difference you’d be better off campaigning to switch from fossil fuels to a nuclear/hydro mixture (probably more nuclear given that we don’t have enough good hydro sites and most of the ones that don’t already have a dam are in national parks). The load that comes from shops running their equipment all day long though is unlikely to be all that significant when compared to what they sell.
