Is it easy to become president of a country in Central America?
In Honduras, like in most countries, being wealthy greatly increases presidential aspirations. With this in mind the people will not vote for an unknown individual. Usually presidents are not the “common man”. They are usually wealthy businessmen and have support of the country’s leaders in one of the two main political parties, much like this country. In order to be elected as president one must side with either the liberal or conservative political party, since the population rarely votes for independents or non-traditional parties. A candidate has to be born in honduras, but his background may be foreign. Such is the case of ex-president Maduro. His family is from panama. Other presidents have been of spanish and turkish backgrounds.
