Is it easier to get away with black jokes, Jew jokes, or gay jokes?
ZC: In season one, we have like three black jokes. I guess that’s what people call them. But all of our jokes about black people are really about white fear. We’re just lifting the curtain, and really showing how stupid it is for white people to be afraid of black people. We don’t have to come out and say that, I hope. TM: There are definitely jokes that are easier to get away with than others. There are “safe” jokes and there are “not safe” jokes. There’s no one topic that you can’t make fun of. It just depends on how you do it. BB: What’s it like when the five of you get together to brainstorm? TM: We all sit in a room and anyone with ideas pitches them. Then we see if anything resonates. ZC: If we’re up against the wall and have no good ideas, we’ll sit with a pen and paper, and write down 10 terrible sketch ideas. At the end of 10 minutes, everyone goes around and reads their 10 terrible sketches, and usually, one of them won’t be so terrible. We’ll start ripping on that one idea,
