Is it easier to burn fat and then gain muscle, or the other way around?

It’s much easier to gain muscle then loose fat afterwards. The reason is muscle is metabolically active, meaning the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn when you aren’t even exercising. Also you will most likely be loosing some fat during the muscle gaining process if you are just starting a workout routine.
